Places of Interest
The Snowdonia National Park offers a huge range of all year round outdoor and indoor activities together with many places of interest all within breathtaking scenery. Outdoor pursuits include climbing, hill walking, photography, mountain biking, fishing and water sports.
The area offers something for everyone. Long sandy beaches at Porthmadog, Anglesey and Llandudno; magnificent castles such as Conway, Caernarfon and Harlech; stunning gardens at Bodnant above the Conway River with all year round colour; narrow gauge railways of Ffestiniog and Snowdon; slate mines, hydro electric stations and the beautiful Italianate village of Portmeirion.
Then there is Crafnant – the jewel in the crown, one of the prettiest lakes in the area. It is a walker’s paradise with pleasant walks to nearby Llyn Gerionydd and Cowlyd or over Crimpiau with wonderful views of Snowdon and Tryfan; on to Capel Curig beneath Moel Siobad absorbing the serenity and magic of the mountains. For a gentle walk you can stroll around the lake watching the herons, cormorants and buzzards then return to Hendre refreshed and invigorated.
Crafnant is a place of peace
Where all life’s little troubles cease
Hendre, a haven dear
Where all return year after year
To leave again, refreshed and well
Held within its magic spell.
